A Classic Marinara Sauce (homemade tomato sauce)

SAUCE INGREDIENTS

2 cans of San Marzano tomatos (2.84 L each can)

2 cloves of crushed garlic

2 sprigs of fresh washed basil

1/2 diced white onion

olive oil to coat bottom of pan

salt & pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS

1) you can either Crush by hand the tomatos OR pass them through a food mill

TIP: Use a wooden soon to balance the food moll over your bowl if it is not a perfect fit)

2) Over medium heat add to a sauce pan add olive oil to coat bottom of pan add half a diced onion add 2 crushed garlic cloves toss all in olive oil until translucent then add your sauce salt and pepper fresh basil

3)  rinse the tomato cans with water to get all last bits of sauce and simmer on low for 2-3 hrs, stirring occasionally- semi covered with the lid- if needed add more water as it will evaporate during the cooking- this is optional as some like their sauce thicker and others more liquid. use this sauce in many ways as shown in the video.

Now the sauce is ready to use for many dishes: Lasagna, simple pasta, meatballs etc
