Crinkle Cookies for Christmas

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cup of A/P (all purpose) flour 178 grams

1 cup sugar 200 grams

1 1/2 teaspoon extract

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter at room temperature

1 egg at room temperature

Pinch of salt

1 cup icing sugar

Makes approx. 24 cookies


When you decide this dough in two- the second half you will add 3 teaspoons of cocoa powder 7.8 grams to make the chocolate flavour.



DIRECTIONS

Step 1) In a medium size bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt and set it aside.


Step 2) In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar with an electric mixer at medium speed for 4-5 minutes. Add egg and vanilla extract mix well.

Step 3) Gradually add your dry ingredients into your wet ingredients till all is well incorporated.

Step 4) Place dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour.



Step 5) Remove dough from your refrigerator after one hour and preheat your over at 350 F.


Step 6) Prepare 2 baking sheets with silicone liners or parchment paper.


Step 7) Shape dough into 1” balls and roll into the icing sugar and place them 2” apart on the baking sheets.

Step 8) Bake the cookies 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned and the top of the cookies are cracked.


Step 9) Cool the cookies on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them on a wire rack. And decorate as you wish!

Step 10) Store the cookies in an air tight container for approx. 2 weeks or freeze up to 3 months.



Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are the same as above recipe however you just have to add

3 teaspoons of cocoa powder 7.8 grams to half of the dough and knead to combine.
